Interested in learning how to swing dance? Come join us on Wednesdays from 7-9:30 pm for the grand return of Berkeley's one and only swing dancing decal: SwingCal!!!
Social dancing is a means of expression, creation, enjoyment, and gathering for communities in the 21st century. A group of Berkeley students from the club Lindy on Sproul created this class to bring these principles together and make social dancing accessible for other students. SwingCal will both teach students to swing dance and introduce them to the history, culture, and community of swing dancing.
A SwingCal class will be begin with a brief lecture on the history and cultural significance of swing dancing, followed by solo jazz instruction. Then, we will have a group lesson and mentor groups. To end the night we will have social dancing among your peers and instructors. No experience or partner is required! By the end of the semester you will be able to confidently swing dance in social settings!
Attendance is mandatory for this Decal as the dance moves we learn are built upon previous lessons. There will be three small assignments throughout the semester.
No day(s) left until application deadline!
