This course is 2 units (Pass/No Pass) and is split into three lecture-based modules: 1) Bone Basics, 2) Bone Pathophysiology, and 3) Biomechanics, Musculoskeletal System, and Sports Medicine. The class will be mainly lecture-based with a few interactive workshops and simulations. The course will offer an enriched curriculum on bones, from general health and education to the anatomy and physiology of the human musculoskeletal system to biomechanical mechanisms for human movement and fractures, including real life applications in the context of different sports . At the end of the semester, you will be well-rounded and well-versed in bone health education, maintenance, science, and presentation. You will also have a basic understanding of bone health and orthopedics—in both macro and micro views. This Decal is intended to be in-person for the Spring 2023 semester, offered on Mondays at 6:30-8pm Pacific time. Grading will be based primarily on attendance to lecture, quizzes on each of the modules, one examination, and a student-led final project at the end. A minimum of 70% of points must be earned to Pass.
