This course is designed for people who want to build and improve their case competition skills. As a team we want to be a mix of skill building workshops and real-life practice experiences to introduce students to the world of case competition. The course will cover case competition structure basics, the art of storytelling, financials, topic deep-dives, and build strong presentation skills. Throughout the semester, we will also bring in Berkeley Haas Case Team alumni who can sit on a panel to discuss their experiences in international case competitions. We will leverage a mix of instruction methods: lecture, discussion and group work.
This class is intended to provide a real case competition experience and encourage you to continue to solve challenging problems. Assignments are structured to be hands on and follow a “learn-by-doing” approach. There will be regular homework assignments that include reading and preparing for the mock case competitions, feedback for your case team, and exercises that align to that week’s module. In addition to homeworks, there will be 2 group presentations (midterm and final) that simulate a real case competition for groups of 4.
