This DeCal is run by the club Data Science Society, the first student organization at Berkeley dedicated to promoting data science education and exploring the potential of data science to solve socio-economic problems (https://dssberkeley.com/). If you are interested in learning more about data science and have some or no prior experience, this is the DeCal for you!
You will work in a group of 3-4 students throughout the semester to create a data science project based on YOUR interests. There will be weekly mini-lectures to help you learn and master the data science lifecycle, followed by time for you to meet with your group and mentor, who is there to guide you through and answer any questions you may have. Along with the mini-lectures and your group project, you will be exposed to data science events and workshops to kickstart your professional career.
Attached is the syllabus, which outlines requirements and grading - this is a low pressure class, we care that you have fun and enjoy it! Attendance is mandatory and assignments must be completed, but they have flexibility built into them.
Fill out the application to be considered, and we will get back to you with decisions by February 7th.
If you believe you are overqualified for the class but still interested in Data Science Society, feel free to go on our website and look at the different committees you can apply to!
No day(s) left until application deadline!
