The healthcare disparities DeCal is an interactive, interdisciplinary decal focusing broadly on problems challenging local and global healthcare. Course topics will include an overview of healthcare in America and healthcare internationally, menstrual equity, environmental health policies, migrant health, and an introduction to using python to map public health data. The course will include collaborations with the Data Science Society as well as a field study portion in which students will have the opportunity to volunteer at medical surplus redistribution organizations. Attendance is mandatory on Thursdays from 7-8pm. There will be online articles provided for students to discuss in groups and homework assignments based on course content. Laptops may be used in class for notes and discussion only; no exams will be administered.
