This class is designed to address the need for fair and clean energy in society as a way to combat injustice and climate change. This will be accomplished by examining renewable energy and environmental justice each separately before exploring the connection between the two and the importance of both being included in the fight against the climate crisis. Participants will finish the course with a deeper understanding of the topics and the empowerment to apply key concepts in their lives as citizens and environmentalists.
Each class will include brief lectures on relevant topics to provide essential information and highlight key points, as well as lengthy class discussions and personal reflections. Students are expected to participate during class and will be graded on their attendance and engagement, posts in a discussion forum, and an open-ended final project.
