The course aims to address AAPI health disparities through an interdisciplinary study of Asian American history and health, epidemiology, sociology, and public policy; to raise awareness and emphasize support for underserved populations in all communities, including AAPIs; to increase understanding of the health issues specifically prominent among AAPI communities; and to encourage students to explore health issues through a social justice lens.
The course will consist of guest lectures by AAPI physicians, community health workers, policy analysts, researchers, and activists in the San Francisco Bay Area, in addition to facilitated discussions.
