Description:
The Entrepreneurship Speaker Series is a weekly speaker series that brings speakers from around the world to share their insights, struggles, challenges and lessons learned with aspiring entrepreneurs.
The speakers and homework will provide students with varying perspectives to entrepreneurship and give them real world insights to what it really takes to be an entrepreneur.
Homework: (40%)
The weekly homework is a one – two page (double spaced, Times New Roman, 12 point font) paper on two topics: the previous weeks speaker and the previous weeks reading. The homework should be printed and brought to class every week. Do not email the homework; if you miss class bring the homework either before or after you miss the class.
Split your paper into two sections: 1. Section 1 – Speaker
a. Two paragraphs
i. First paragraph – A summary of the talk
ii. Second paragraph – Relevant takeaways and their application to you and your entrepreneurial future.
Attendance: (30%)
Your homework will count for your attendance too. If you don’t have an assignment to submit then submit a blank page with your name and SID on it.
More than 1 absence will put you at risk of not passing the class.
Final: (30%)
There will be a final exam at the culmination of class on all speakers and any readings assigned, and will account for 50% of the final grade.
Extra Credit:
Students are able to earn extra credit through following means:
• Manage the class website and the livestream/recording of the speech (Replace Final)
• Class Reader (Replace Final)
• If space is available, invite an entrepreneur who took a company public (i.e. IPO) as a guest speaker (1 Homework assignment)
No day(s) left until application deadline!
