Are you interested in California politics? Do you want to learn relevant, accessible information about how to understand and engage in politics? Do you want to influence local and state politics/politicians? Do you want to develop your persuasive communication skills?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then this class is for you!
Covering everything from the intricacies of state balances of power, grassroots advocacy, public and private agencies, lobbyists, and citizen activists, this class will be based primarily around participation and various engaging activities constructed to aid students learning. Over the course of the semester, we will equip you with the skills, tools, and knowledge necessary to influence public policy with a focus on state-level advocacy.
