In this course, we will read a variety of novels and short stories by female authors depicting relationships between women. We will read texts ranging from the early nineteenth century to present day to understand how gender, class, race, and sexuality have affected female relationships across time. Central questions we will be discussing include: How do women write the relationships between women? How do race, class, sexuality, and culture affect these relationships?
