If you're here from Sanjeev's University Medal Essay, know that I told him to remove me from the listing. He didn't want to, but in the short page limit he had I wasn't a detail that met the extremely high threshold for essay entry.
This class delves into interpersonal relationships through the lens of the conversations that create them. We explore the secrets to meeting new people, strengthening close friendships, the nuances behind humor and flirting, the keys to conflict resolution and more, all taught by two of the best persuasive speakers in the country.
We meet twice a week IN PERSON for an hour and a half each (with Berkeley time) to discuss the focus of the lecture and practice the lessons we’ll learn using interactive activities.
Be prepared to open up. Anticipate finding long-term friends among your class of 20 that you’ll learn to admire through our emphasis on acceptance and vulnerability. By virtue of participating in this course, you will learn about your classmates in many ways - not just what they laugh at or what major they’re in, but who they are as human beings. And they will learn about you, so don’t be afraid to be vulnerable, be open, and change how you approach connection.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Start, maintain, and exit conversations gracefully
- Meet new people in any social situation with ease
- Strengthen relationships with friends and family
- Speak in a manner that is liked, understood, and respected
- Be confident by being yourself, not in spite of it
See the attached student syllabus (under 'Files') for more information, and learn more about our approach here:
(It might say the class is open below, but we don't take more students after the cycle is done.)
We will be holding two info sessions where you can get to know your facilitators and what this course is all about!
1. Tuesday, 2/1, 6:30-7:30 pm
2. Thursday, 2/3, 6:30-7:30 pm
Thanks for swinging by to them - it was so fun getting to know you and and seeing you get to know each other! That's what we strive for in so much that we do, and it's rewarding to see it happen yet again.
Our application is now live! It'll be open until this Friday (2/4) at midnight. (Surprise!) It's on our linktree.
If you have any questions, reach out to either facilitator by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
