Applications for Fall 2021 ARE CLOSED.
Introduction to Figma is an opportunity for any student to learn Figma — a powerful, free-to-use design tool — and gain the skills, community, and confidence to bring any idea to life.
Through the course, you will learn the mechanics of Figma, basic design theory, and unconventional ways to apply the skills you pick up during the semester. Although Figma is known for its UI/UX design capabilities, you can leverage it for anything that you desire!
There are no prerequisites or prior knowledge requirements for this course. It is intended for students who are new to Figma and design as a whole. We encourage students who have little to no experience with the tool to apply.
METHODS OF INSTRUCTION
Lecture: Live presentation of slides and live demos about Figma tools and design theory. Asynchronous* — Tuesday 7-8:30 PM; Attendance is highly encouraged.
Lab: Collaborative, hands-on practice completed with a team of students and a TA.
Homework Files and Readings: Weekly assignment to provide practice with both the tools and theory presented in lecture, as well as short reading and response for further exploration into course topics.
Projects (Midterm and Final): Creative applications demonstrating familiarity with tools and concepts presented in lecture and practiced in homework and lab.
