This course is designed for students interested in the medical and research fields, specifically the areas of dermatology and skincare. This is an introductory course that aims to inform students about the rapidly growing track of medicine, which is dermatology. This course will also serve as a platform for them to research topics in skincare science. This decal has four modules that will be covered over the 13 week instruction period. These modules are skin anatomy, formulation chemistry, dermatopathology, and common skin procedures.
Students will be introduced to a new topic every week, research dermatology related articles in medical journals, and publish their own articles covering these topics on our decal website. We will also invite keynote speakers such as dermatologists, skin aestheticians, etc. to describe their professions and gauge the student's interests in dermatology and skincare.
This course will have a weekly reading and an associated written response to be turned in via bcourses. Additionally there will be a monthly presentation on an article of your choosing. Students will decide on a topic and supporting research article and submit their research proposals via bcourses for input and assistance.
Dermaceuticals 101 is a P/NP course and students are expected to attend all class meetings and complete all assignments in order to pass this course. This decal will be held via Zoom on Fridays from 2PMPST-4PMPST.
