In this whirlwind journey of a course, we will cover some of the most important and mind-blowing discoveries in physics, including quantum physics, rocket science, and astrophysics.
Expect from the course an understanding of the fascinating questions asked (and sometimes answered) by physicists and astronomers throughout history, and an ability to confront contemporary popular science headlines with informed excitement and skepticism.
There are no math or physics prerequisites at all, just healthy curiosity and a willingness to ask questions! To enroll, use the CCN 21596. Then, if necessary, email at ucb.beginners.guide@gmail.com to obtain a permission code. Sign up on CalCentral with these, and make sure to select two units.
Lectures will be at 7-8:30pm PDT on Monday and will be asynchronous. Discussion will be either 6-7 pm PST Wednesday OR 6-7pm PST Thursday. We are willing to be flexible in these tough unprecedented times.
