Recent advancements in CRISPR, vaccine development, personalized medicine and more have only been possible by the work of computational biologists, who apply computational knowledge to solve a myriad of biological problems.
The purpose of this course in computational biology is to give undergraduates an opportunity to gain fundamental research skills, explore relevant background knowledge, and conduct their own research project in groups. Our goal is to help students feel confident and prepared to seek out on-campus opportunities in the exciting field of computational biology.
This course will meet remotely.
Mentees will work in groups of 4-6 students, supervised by a mentor, in developing and working on a research project in their group’s area of interest. Mentees receive 2 units through IB 98.

About ULAB: Undergraduate research can be one of the most transformative and fruitful experiences at Berkeley. However, many students feel they lack the knowledge, experience, or resources to getting started. ULAB is a student-run research program built to remedy this issue by helping students from all backgrounds and skill levels get their foot in the door.
