Students will learn about the value and diversity of the group of organisms under the title pollinators. Through both reading, discussion, and hands-on experience connecting with nature, students will gain a better perspective of this truly remarkable group for organisms and the ways we can help alleviate the number of threats facing them from human society. This will be predominantly a discussion-based and active-based course. This course will incorporate presentations from the decal facilitators, a nature component, and guest lectures from related departments at the University to introduce the class to the number of resources available related to environmental health, stewardship, and entomology. Students will be expected to fulfill an 6-8 hours of campaign work a week which includes in-class and outside of class meetings with CALPIRG Students. Students will also be provided native bee books courtesy of the SERC Decal fellowship.
