The objective of this course is to teach students interested in sports betting the fundamental ideas behind sports betting. Throughout the semester we will dive into the many intricacies of this topic including basic material such as participants and logistics, and more advanced material such as available strategies and how bets are placed. Sports betting relies heavily on statistical and probabilistic ideas, which we will use to describe how bets are made, the implications of such bets, and how we can identify "good bets”.
Upon completion of this course, students should be extremely comfortable with sports betting and understand the mechanics behind making sports betting a profitable endeavor. We will also cover professions in the sports betting, sports and entertainment industries at the end of the course so students know more about career options in this booming industry.
