The objective of this course is to introduce students to Venture Capital investment. Since VC is an exclusive industry by nature, it is difficult for us to tap into the industry on our own. This course is open to students in all majors from all years, and it is especially aimed at aspiring entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. You will learn the basic knowledge of Venture Capital from both perspectives that would be useful for startup fundraising and tapping into VC careers.
We believe that undergraduates teaching undergraduates is great, but professionals teaching undergraduates is even better. Therefore, we invited venture capitalists from CapitalG (Google's venture arm), Soma Capital (portfolio includes Lambda School, Cruise, Houseparty), Unshackled Ventures (investing in immigrant founders), a guest lecturer from Presidio Ventures, and successful founders to share their experience in investing and fundraising.
Finally, the best way to learn about VC is to get involved. During the course, you'll participate in a few hands-on projects that allow you to source, evaluate startups, write up a term sheet, and network with people in the space.
