This course is dedicated to the fundamentals of music production, including (but not limited to): the science of sound, signal flow and recording chain, intro to various DAWs (Logic,
Reaper, Pro Tools, Garage Band and the differences between them), with a focus on Ableton Live, effects processing, and mixing and mastering. If time/interest allow, basics of Max for Live. *NB: this course is best suited for those with little to no experience with DAWs or Ableton. If you’re past this level but would like support for personal projects, please email me and I’ll meet with you (schedule allowing) 1-1!
There are 3 open notes quizzes, a midterm creative project (making a track) and a final project (finishing the midterm track or making a new track from start to finish). You may have 2 unexcused absences throughout the semester.
