Have you ever had the desire to change the world, but weren’t too sure where to start? Or maybe you have been inspired about a cool idea or project, but don’t feel like you have the right skills, know the right people, or come from the right background? Have you always wished for a course that taught you how to build the right mindset other successful leaders around the world developed to make an impact?
Well we’re happy to say that no matter what your major is, what your background is, or what your skill level is, you’ll learn how to change the world through this class. High expectations of course, but we’re excited to help other students!
The objective of this course is to empower students to bring positive change to any industry—like healthcare, finance, technology, and politics. Any cause or field you care about, this class is an opportunity to learn how to actually make an impact.
By learning the most relevant tools and mindsets used in design and business, you can gain insight into how to make change in any field or industry. You don’t need to be an expert in design or business to learn how to do this. We are here to help bridge the gap between the design and business-thinking tools to empower students of all majors and backgrounds to innovate in their own fields.
The first half of the semester is focused on selecting a problem area you would like to take on, and developing an effective solution. This will be done by exploring the importance of design-thinking, understanding the design process, and how to use design tools to come up with solutions that truly address user needs. The second half of the semester will delve into how to determine if your idea can be financially feasible. The strategies used in this course have been used by thousands of changemakers to make a positive impact in the world. By engaging with the course throughout the semester, students will walk away with a changemaking mindset—the core framework of the course. Upon completion of the course, students will also have a low-fidelity project proposal to carry out making change in the world.
