This course will offer students the opportunity to explore real estate through a number of academic and professional lenses, with a focus on real estate investing. Students will develop the critical quantitative and qualitative skills necessary to become a real estate investor. The primary focus of the course will be giving students a flyover of all aspects of real estate investing; an extremely interdisciplinary industry by its very nature. Sub-industries within real estate investment include banking, private equity, REITs, joint venture development, and corporate real estate. Students will engage with topics through a combination of group and individual work. Lectures will be supplemented with weekly readings ranging from industry reports and news articles to academic research on the real estate market. The course will feature a final group case-study on each asset type. Required readings each week will be covered in lecture the following week with an overview and real-world context.
