Class is now open and will be held every Wednesday (11/27 excluded) from 3-5 pm in the Blue Gym at the RSF. This active class is a great chance to play, engage and challenge your abilities. You will get to experience sport in a brand new way.
This course will teach students the history, rules, and current application of goalball, a Paralympic sport designed for the blind or visually impaired. People of all abilities play by wearing black-out eye shades as they compete in this unique sport. Students will fully understand the Goalball Rules and Regulation Handbook as well as learn physical skills and game strategies. Students will learn material through active participation, reading assignments, and guest speakers. Each week will build off the previous class as we work up to full speed game action.
Students will attend the course one time per week and are required to play and actively participate in game activities. Short assigned reading must be completed prior to the start of each class in order to actively engage and participate in class discussion. In addition to their in class participation, students will be required to attend one community or campus event revolving around inclusive/adaptive recreation (details to be provided). There will be two reflection papers to be turned in throughout the semester; one at the beginning of the semester and the other at the close of class.
No day(s) left until application deadline!
