Why chocolate?
Chocolate is the perfect lens through which we can study numerous topics ranging from agriculture effects of climate change to barriers of entering the food business. Each person has a different personal connection to chocolate, whether that be the smell of freshly baked cookies at home or soothing hot chocolate around a campfire, allowing for dynamic and intimate conversations about these topics. Justify your addiction to chocolate by signing up for this course and joining us for delicious snacks (yes, we will be eating every week) and stimulating conversation!

Class structure:
Each class will be one hour long (with Berkeley time) to try new chocolates together and discuss the topic of the week. Weekly assigned readings/viewings should take no more than 30 minutes.

Grading:
Your grade will depend heavily on participation and attendance. Some of our classes will feature guest speakers, and we expect students to be respectful and appreciative of their time. The rest will consist of a take-home midterm, a creative final project, and short weekly reflections.

To be in the class, you must come to the mandatory info session on Monday, September 9th at 7:00 pm in VLSB 2038. Those who sign in will then be sent the link to our application, due 11:59 pm on September 11th. Students will be notified the next day with instructions on how to enroll.
