In this course, we will explore intersectional and feminist perspectives on bodies, external forces shaping people’s relationships with their bodies, and paths to embracing healthy and intuitive methods of self-care. We will watch films in class, explore healing through artistic expression, and participate in fun self-exploration activities. Journal entries will be assigned in order to deepen thinking and reflection. We will strive to create a safe environment in which students will be encouraged to share their personal perspectives at their own comfort levels. This is a discussion intensive course. All readings and assignments will be given in class and via email.
By the end of this semester, students will have a toolkit with which to practice self-love and mindfulness around eating, exercise, and care.
