This combination studio and lecture course will teach basic techniques in figure drawing from live professional nude models during weekly class sessions. Students will learn how to approach the human figure in a variety of ways, including through anatomical understanding, light, composition, contour, etc. and expand their ability to draw from life. Once basic skills are established, students are encouraged to be expressive and incorporate conceptual ideas in their drawings and chosen mediums. At the end of the class, students will complete a large-scale figurative piece in the medium of their choice. The class is fit for students of all drawing levels or no drawing experience, and students are encouraged to continue their practice in the upper division Figure Drawing course within the Art Practice department.
There will be a one time $25 class fee to cover the cost of the models. The course can be taken for 1 or 2 units: students who take the course for 2 units will be required to do an extra project aside from the final large-scale drawing and do smaller take-home exercises throughout the course. Drawing materials will not be provided (unless otherwise specified in class) and can be purchased at any art store.
No day(s) left until application deadline!
