The Strawberry Creek Restoration DeCal is a course where students interact with Strawberry Creek, from the hills to the Bay, while exploring topics such as the historical ecology and environmental history of the Strawberry Creek watershed, urban creek ecology, native and invasive plant and animal species, the evaluation​ of creek ecosystem health and water quality, urban community-based ecological restoration, urban water management infrastructure, creative expression related to the creek, native plant propagation and native plant seed collection, design of environmental education material and interpretive walks, and nature reconnection efforts in cities.

Throughout the semester students will actively and regularly participate in the implementation of Strawberry Creek restoration projects in numerous sites on campus under the guidance of student facilitators, as well as go on field trips, called "Watershed Walks".

Students must attend ten out of the thirteen full class meetings in order to pass the course. All students will complete readings each week based upon weekly topics, which we will discuss in-class. In addition, students will complete short assignments throughout the duration of the class, as well as one semester-long project.
