Berkeley Medical Journal is a student-run publication focused on highlighting current Bay Area research and communicating new findings to the campus community. Students have the opportunity to speak directly to researchers, learn how to read complex scientific literature, acquire journalistic skills, and have their writing featured on the BMJ website.
Our team meets each week for two hours to edit articles, discuss writing techniques, and review science headlines in the news. Throughout the course of the semester, students work on two academic articles and are provided writing assistance from highly trained student-editors. The course culminates with a short article presentation and a final packet which includes the edited articles.
Attendance of the weekly meeting is mandatory, with the exception of up to two excused absences and one unexcused absence. Further unexcused absences will result in loss of class credit.
