This course (2 Units) is designed for students of all majors and backgrounds so that they can learn something new about food! Every week, we present a new topic, or lens, through which we view food's function in our lives. Topics include food and the media, politics, socioeconomics, race, gender, American diet, global diets, science and more! In any given class, expect a short presentation on that week's topic with relevant background info, followed by engaging discussions and activities! There are also short, fun reflective assignments every week along with readings that relate to the week's topics. Attendance is mandatory, and each student is allowed up to 2 excused absences.
Throughout the course, students will be asked to explore topics of their interest and at the end of the semester will present an analysis of a particular food through that lens.
No day(s) left until application deadline!
