The Objective of this course is to learn the skill of professional networking step by step. This course is aimed especially at students who come from backgrounds without existing family connections in their professional space of interest. This course is designed to equip students with the tools they need, to form and maintain professional networks. Networking is an extremely useful skill to have; yet often times it seems too vague to learn. The purpose of this course is to break down the idea of networking and teach the skill, step by step. Upon the completion of the course, students will be able to navigate their professional connections in a much more sustainable way and land their dream career.
We will meet once a week. In class, we will have lecture presentations, short assignments and discussions.
This course is graded on a pass no pass basis, and therefore attendance is mandatory for each class.
We will have weekly assignments that will account for a large portion of the total grade. These assignments will be assigned at the end of each class, and due at beginning of the next class. The assignments will consist of reading and writing sometimes, however, most of the assignments will be action oriented.
You final project will be given out 2 weeks before the final class. You will have the option to choose from 2-3 different projects.
