This course was inspired by the Middle Ground segment of Jubilee's YouTube channel. The term "middle ground" refers to an area of compromise or possible agreement between two extreme positions. The purpose of this DeCal is to expose the importance of peaceful discussion by creating an understanding of differences by exploring today's most controversial topics.
You will be graded on weekly journal entries on YouTube videos, reflections on discussions, and participation in class.
The class will start by watching a Middle Ground YouTube video. The rest of the class time will be dedicated to discussion and a short reflection.
The final for this class will be a visual presentation-- powerpoint, video, poster, etc (get creative!)-- of a new “middle ground” topic of your choice. Make sure to show both sides of the controversy as the purpose of the final is to see if you are able to recognize the middle ground of this topic on your own.

We are also working on getting a speaker from the YouTube channel to come speak to our students about Jubilee/Middle Ground!
