Do you enjoy watching movies? Love Korean culture but can't make it to South Korea anytime soon?
Then this is the DeCal for you!
This semester, students will be watching Korean films and analyzing them within the context of contemporary Koreans aesthetics as well as the historical framework. The purpose of this DeCal is to appreciate the beauty of Korean cinema and to achieve an in-depth exploration of the various facets which define the films.
The DeCal will be meeting twice a week, with screenings on Wednesdays and discussions on Fridays. The screening includes watching the film and answering questions pertaining to the plot, timeline, context, etc.. The discussion section will focus on exploring and deconstructing the films for further comprehension of the underlying themes.
Note: The two sections on this page are NOT separate. Students are expected to go to both screening and discussion.
