For over ten years, SwingCal has taught Berkeley students how to swing dance in a fun and relaxed environment. Social dancing is a means of expression, creation, enjoyment, and gathering for communities. We not only focus on dancing but also understanding the history of swing dance and music, as well as talking about its significance in today's world. At SwingCal we focus on making dancing a stress free experience since swing is all about being comfortable in your personality and showing it through your dancing. We'd love to have you join our family!
We present a 13-week series introducing students to social swing dancing, with an emphasis on Lindy Hop. The course includes both a Beginner I section for those new to social dancing and a Beginner II section for those who wish to further their previous dancing knowledge. No dance partner is required.
There are a total of three assignments and no exams. Attendance is mandatory and an important part of your grade.
