This course will offer you the chance to teach hands-on science and engineering lessons in local elementary and middle schools! You and a small group (4-6 people) of fellow UC Berkeley students will be assigned to one of our 16 schools that you will teach at once a week for 9 weeks. DeCal meetings are held once a week on Monday evenings, where we will teach you the lesson material for that week. At the end of the semester, your group will design, test, and teach your own lesson on a scientific concept of your choosing.
You DO NOT have to be a science or engineering major to join!
BEAM is an enriching experience where you will grow as a mentor and build relationships with our local community's youth. Our mission is to show these kids that a career in STEM is both a fun and accessible path for them, no matter their background. Come to our info-session for more information and instructions on how to apply.
INFO-SESSION: Monday February 4th, 8:00 - 9:00 PM in 105 North Gate Hall.
