The purpose of this course is to educate students on the importance of investing and to provide a background to the main principles and concepts of long term investing. This course begins with the basics, from what a stock is, what causes its price movements, and how to get started investing and trading. The class will then move into basic fundamental analysis closely followed by technical. We will then proceed into a variety of lectures on important investing strategies such as Contrarian, High Yield, Growth at a Reasonable Price (GAARP), Value, Growth, etc. Senior students in Berkeley Investment Group will also come in and discuss career opportunities within finance. The class will conclude with group projects/presentations on stock picks with a focus on fundamental analysis. This class is designed for students who are not familiar with investing or may have traded in the past but wish to learn more.
The class will be offered once per week on Wednesdays from 6-8pm and attendance is required at all sections. Our first lecture will be on August 30th, 2017. Attendance is required for those who are enrolled in the course. Enrolled students will be contacted prior to the first lecture.
