Free Ventures is not just a class; it’s an incubator program that supports students in their efforts to build the next generation of businesses by providing them with the resources and framework to get them there. Created for students, by students, we aim to educate and accelerate Berkeley students so that they can make their dreams into realities before they even leave the university.
We offer:
--> Units
--> Funding for the development of your projects
--> Weekly mentorship workshops bringing industry expertise to students
--> Dedicated 24/7 workspace for teams to work on their projects at their convenience
--> $10,000 in credits for AWS, GitHub, and similar services
--> A community of contacts and partners offering funding advice, technical expertise and legal services
--> The opportunity to work with a group of like-minded motivated students solving a variety of issues
--> And many more...
Teams work on their products throughout the semester, with the end of the semester culminating in a demo day to showcase their progress and the future of their project. There is four hours of class a week; a two hour workship with domain experts that sit down with each team individually to talk about their product, giving advice specific to each student. The other two hours is devoted to a lab section, where students are given a devoted time and place to work on their projects.
Please have a look at our website, www.freeventures.org, to learn more about the program and see what our past teams have done. We would love to hear about the ideas you are working on so feel free to reach out to us with any questions.
NOTE: Students should be available on Mondays from 7 - 9pm for mentor workshops and on Wednesdays from 7 - 9pm for lab sessions.
No day(s) left until application deadline!
