This course aims to support students in navigating their emotional experiences with greater confidence. College students may experience emotional, psychological, and social distress that impacts their road to academic success and overall well-being. In this course, students will learn tools and practices to develop self-insight and holistic perspectives on mental health to minimize the impact of distress. The course format includes lectures, small-group discussions, experiential exercises, journal reflections, and a final paper. This course is not a substitute for therapy.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Attendance for the class is mandatory. To pass the class, no more than two excused absences and one unexcused absence are permitted. For absences due to extenuating circumstances, such as midterms and sickness, by attending office hours and/or completing the makeup work, the absence won’t count towards your absence total. Missing more than 3 classes without attending office hours or doing makeup work, will result in a No Pass.
