"The Power of Networking" is a 2-unit course that aims to help students discover the importance of networking, build confidence in interacting with real-world professionals, and develop genuine and meaningful relationships that lead to career opportunities. Students will develop practical methods of effective networking and apply what they learn at professional events, career fairs, and company information sessions. Additionally, students have the opportunity to hear directly from professionals and recruiters from various industries about useful networking tips.
By the end of this course, you will be ready to expand your professional network and design your own networking game plan to achieve your career and life goals.
Class Structure:
We hold class once a week for 2 hours. During class, we will be incorporating lectures, simulations of in-class concepts, and time with guest speakers to ensure you're learning! Come prepared to discuss with other students.
Attendance:
Attendance is absolutely critical to learning in the course. You must notify the instructors prior to an absence, since we will occasionally have group exercises. Any student that exceeds 2 absences (including missing half the class/coming excessively late) will receive an NP in the course.
Assignments/Final:
Students will be expected to complete weekly assigned readings and submit reflections before the start of class. We will also require that students spend some time outside of class (i.e. coffee chats) to practice some of the skills taught in class.
The final for this class is a 5 minute presentation in front of the class. More information on the structure and expectations will be given in class.
No day(s) left until application deadline!
