We all strive for happiness in our everyday lives. With mental health serving as one of the biggest plagues on college campuses, few understand how to take advantage of the basic psychology behind increasing both happiness and meaning in their lives. Significant portions of college students, especially at a school like Berkeley, also hope to commit their lives to making an impact in the world. In this class we will be focusing on how to cultivate a spirit of happiness within ourselves from a psychological, social, and spiritual perspective so that students feel empowered to go out and create positive change within their communities.
As a student in this DeCal, you will:
+ Read books written by world-class researchers and public figures
+ Learn the biological basis behind happiness, and apply this knowledge to every day life.
+ Have access to various networks and unique opportunities at UC Berkeley personally tailored to help achieve your own idea of happiness.
+ Collaborate with other students on an end-of-the-semester project that will aim to increase happiness within society.
+ Learn meditative and spiritual techniques to find inner-peace within oneself.
+ Discuss the importance of mental health and the stigma commonly associated with it.
No day(s) left until application deadline!
