This course is intended for students who are passionate about visual storytelling and want to learn about the animation pre-­production pipeline (i.e. storyboarding, concept art, character design, etc.). Throughout the semester, you will develop a portfolio and animatic for an original story concept. Students will also be introduced to basic frame animation through exercises and homework.

Classes are split into lectures with visual demonstrations of techniques or programs, and group critique time for student assignments. Homework and project submissions will be graded on effort, level of understanding of weekly content, and timely uploading of their assignments to their online portfolio.

If you would like to be considered for enrollment into UCBUGG: Artistic Development for Animation (ADFA), you must submit the complete online application by 1/27 11:59pm. The form includes questions asking about your reasons for taking ADFA, and a themed drawing assignment specific to this semester. More detailed instructions will be provided during the first class.
