This course will give students a preview of healthcare of the future. First, we will take a brief look at the events that have led us up to the current healthcare system. Then, we will move on to the innovation that has been occurring in healthcare technology to address the current crisis of increasing healthcare costs. Speakers will present on a range of topics, including 3D Printing, medical devices, telemedicine, etc. Along the way, opportunities for networking will be available for interested students.
Students will be given a guideline of how to take effective notes that will be useful for their assignments and final presentation. Students are expected to actively engage in discussions, keep up with the weekly reading materials from the syllabus, and submit weekly discussion posts. Meetings will include an introduction of the week’s topic along with a 40-45 minute speaker presentation followed by networking opportunities and in-class activities. Attendance is required, and will be taken every week.
