Web Design DeCal (WDD) is a 2-unit course at UC Berkeley that will teach you how to build a beautiful website. WDD is divided into two sections:
- The programming section teaches the three fundamental components of any website: HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript (jQuery).
- The design section teaches web design philosophies which will allow you to recreate modern design trends such as responsive design and flat UI.

Note: This course does not cover server-side programming or back-end frameworks like Django, Rails, or PHP. The material is limited to front-end web development.
Prerequisites ---
This course is designed for beginners who have no experience with web design. If you are familiar with most of the topics covered in this class, please do not apply to allow another student a spot in the class.
Grading Breakdown ---
There are a total of 100 points. You need 70 points or more in order to pass this class.
Homework: 40 points (5 points per 8 total assignments)
Group Project: 28 points
Final Project: 32 points
Homework ---
Every week, we will release a homework assignment that will relate to what was covered in lecture that week. Homework assignments are designed to take between one to three hours. Homework will be due each week, an hour before class. This gives you about a week to complete each homework assignment.
Absences ---
You're allowed a total of 2 absences for the entire course. Every absence over the limit of 2 will result in a loss of 5 points, which is 5% of your grade.
